Birth Doula Care

Your birth. Your choices.

A doula is a non-medical support person who is there through pregnancy, birth and early motherhood. Before birth, we get to know each other, talk through your hopes and concerns, explore your options and prepare for the different ways birth might unfold.

During labour, I’m a familiar, continuous presence—offering physical comfort, helping you understand what’s happening and supporting you and your partner along the way. I work alongside your midwife, obstetrician or other care providers, rather than replacing them.

After birth, I’m there as you find your feet with your new baby. We can talk through your birth, work through questions and make space for how you’re feeling. I’m not there to make decisions for you or tell you how things should look—my role is to support you in finding what feels right for you.

We’ll meet twice during pregnancy, giving us time to get to know one another and talk through your hopes, concerns and preferences for birth.

Together, we can explore:

  • Your birth preferences and available options
  • Comfort measures and positions for labour
  • How your birth partner would like to be involved
  • Preparing for different possibilities
  • The early days of feeding and postpartum recovery

You’ll also have ongoing phone and message support for questions, reassurance or anything you’d like to talk through between our sessions.

A relationship built before labour begins

Before Birth

From the time you need me, I’ll remain with you throughout labour and birth—whether you’re birthing at home, in hospital or at a birth centre. Support may include:

  • Massage, counterpressure and position changes
  • Breathing, movement and relaxation techniques
  • Creating a calmer birth environment
  • Helping you understand your options as circumstances change
  • Supporting your partner to feel involved and useful
  • Making sure you feel heard, respected and cared for

I support physiological and medicated births, inductions, planned caesareans and births that unfold differently from the original plan.

The birth doula package

The weeks after birth are tender and
disorienting. Postpartum care gives you practical help, emotional support and space to process what you’ve been through while you adjust to life with your baby.

Every visit is different. I might prepare something for you to eat, hold the baby while you shower, help create a calmer rhythm at home or help you debrief and process your birth experience.

Available up to 12 weeks after birth.

1 x Three hour visit: $240
4 x Three-hour visits: $880

Postpartum Care

Prenatal yoga offers time to move with your changing body, ease common pregnancy discomforts and step away from the noise of preparing for a baby.

Classes bring together gentle movement, breathwork, birth preparation and deep rest. You don’t need to be flexible, experienced or even “good” at slowing down. Simply come as you are.

Tuesdays, 6.30–7.45 pm

The Common Room, Northcote

Prenatal Yoga

Birth education is a private session for you
and your birth partner, shaped around your circumstances, questions and preferences.

We’ll talk honestly about how birth works, what choices may arise and how to prepare for both the birth you hope for and the unexpected. There is no single “right” way to give birth—the aim is to help you feel informed enough to make decisions that are right for you.

Available in your home or online.

Support beyond birth

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Doula care can be divided into manageable instalments throughout pregnancy. We can agree on a schedule before you book.

When can I begin prenatal yoga?

Classes are generally suitable from 14 weeks onwards, provided you have clearance from your doctor or midwife. You don’t need any previous yoga experience.

Which areas do you service?

Doula and postpartum care are available across Melbourne’s inner north, inner east and surrounding suburbs. Travel outside this area may be possible depending on availability.

Can I book birth education without doula care?

Yes. Birth education, prenatal yoga and postpartum care can all be booked separately.

What if I want an epidural or induction?

My support is not dependent on a particular kind of birth. I support unmedicated and medicated births, inductions, planned caesareans and births where plans change along the way.

Can my partner still be involved?

Absolutely. A doula does not take the place of a partner, if you have one. I can help them understand what is happening, suggest practical ways to support you and step in when they need food, rest or reassurance.

Do you support freebirths?

No. I am not a medical professional and therefore only support births with a fully-licensed midwife or obstetrician involved.

Do you support hospital births?

Yes. I support births at home, in hospital and at birth centres throughout Melbourne. My role is to work alongside your chosen medical care team, not replace them.

When should I book a birth doula?

You’re welcome to inquire at any stage of pregnancy, although many clients book very soon after learning they’re expecting. I accept a limited number of births each month, so reaching out earlier gives us the best chance of working together.

Questions are always welcome.
